What's the difference between a Smoke Alarm and a Smoke Detector?
A smoke alarm is typically battery powered and works in isolation; if it detects smoke then it will sound its built-in internal alarm. A smoke detector is just a detector, but will communicate to the central fire panel, and the panel in turn then raises the audible alarm, as well as signalling to the fire brigade if the option is available.
Communication to the central fire panel can either take place through a wireless or a wired connection. If wired then you have the added security of having the smoke detector powered from the mains, with a battery backup.
Integration
The fire alarm system can be fully integrated with your intruder, door access and CCTV systems. For example, if a fire is discovered, then doors can be released automatically for evacuation, and CCTV cameras can be activated in the affected areas so security personnel can ensure the area is clear.
